tore my engine down tonight, it has 5,000 miles on the shortblock.
the main and rod bearings are chewed up pretty bad already. 3 of the cam bearings are shot too. i was driving home from detroit one night after racing, about a 3 hour drive, and i lost 3 psi of oil pressure. it had never done that on longer drives before. why would the bearings be junk after a few thousand miles?
are 3/4 groove bearings a good idea?
does anyone have a part number?
also is the crank being turned .020 a bad thing? how much will it weaken it?
i broke it the cam the proper way, changed oil right after cam break in. then again after 500 miles, 1500 miles, then right before i went racing when i lost the oil pressure. there was never any metal shavings of any kind in the oil until i drained it to pull the engine.
