Where and how loud? If its a consistent tapping, a valve readjustment may be in order. This is normal after a new cam is installed and everything "seats" itself. I normally readjust my valves about a week after a new cam install. If it taps just as you start the engine then dies down, its a sign of low oil pressure, but nothing to be really freaked about, now if it taps REALLY constistently even after a valve readjustment, it could be a sign of a clogged lifter or pump with a lot of clearance. Tapping noises come from a lot of places, and many time, ESPECIALLY after a new header installation, it is actually coming from the headers (ie exhaust leak). Trust me a tapping valve sounds almost exactly like a loose header. Tighten up ALL the header bolts and see if the noise is still there. Wouldn't be suprised if that was it. I find that my headers loosen their bolts the first week after an install and after one or two re-tightens they are good for a long time.

It's pretty constant.

I will try tightening the header bolts. See if that does it. Thanks Chris.

usually valve noise is caused by anything but valve. try looking for exhaust leak, injector making noise, rocker out of adjustment
