Posessed cruise control
Sometimes when I take off slow, my car floors itself!!!! I swear to god I think that it's posessed!!! What happens is when I hit the turn signal, I accidentally hit the cruise control switch. But why does it do that? Also, the accelerate switch doesn't work. What could be my problem?

Does your speedometer work?
If the speedo is broke the car may not see the speed correctly and therefor keep trying to accelerate. My '82 did this also before I sold it. I almost rearended a cop because of this, but you can win bets with friends that your car is posessed and will accelerate on its own.

i'd guess the wires from the turn signal lever are broke, or breaking. there are 4 very thin wires in it that get brittle with age.

Somewhere else this site, I responded to a post describing similar behavior. I had the same problem on my Monte Carlo SS about a year ago (identical stalk).
This can be caused by one of two things. In my case, I simply replaced both:
1) The wires in the turn signal/high beam/windshield wiper/cruise stalk are worn and shorting.
2) The cruise unit is defective. Older cruise units CAN short out with age and do strange things such as accelerate the car for you, unexpectedly. There was a 60 Minutes / 20/20 / Dateline segment a few years back that illustrated this problem as well. Fords seem to be the worst.
My Monte accelerated by itself one too many times on my wife and she has not driven it since...
As I said, both the stalk and the cruise unit were replaced the the behavior stopped. I did both because my turn signals and wipers/washer were also arbitrarily misbehaving in this timeframe.
