retrofit roller lifters/ GM hydraulic roller
retrofit roller lifters/ GM hydraulic roller
Does anyone know a part number for the GM (or aftermarket equiv.) roller lifter that will work in a non-roller block?
There is someone on EBAY selling this info fro $20, but someone has to know this....
I was told its a 60 degree V6 part, but I cant find a part number or vehicle application to look up a price.
The stock V8 roller lifters are too tall for the bosses of a non-roller block, the oil transfer area is exposed and would result in a complete loss of oil pressure. This "V6" version is supposed to be shorter, or the groove is lower anyway.
Please help, Im looking for a low cost alternative to the aftermarket lifters.

I bought a set of those lifters off an ebay site.
I think the seller is kay454, they were nice new lifters for $120. By the time I found this guy, I wished I'd spent the $20 for the info. Cause I tried ordering a v6 roller lifter from SDPC and they sent the wrong part.
Now I have to clearance the block for the lifter guides.
I never did find a part #
You can do an ebay search too for chevy v6 lifters.
Actually 2 sets of 2.2L lifters is what you want to get. Same part, 8/set.

Lotta sellers on ebay selling Comp link-bar lifters for "Buy It Now" at 259.00, is it worth 120 for factory, plus scrounging yards for the the other parts (gotta cost a few more bucks too) then doing work to the block as well?
All in all you may save a 100 bucks...max..for what is considered an inferior setup anyways.
I could see if you happen to have the parts onhand and wern't going to put any money out.

Those look like the regular v8 rollers to me. It looks like he doesn't have any of the v6 or 4 cyl rollers for sale now. But it might be worthwhile to contact him.
Do a search for other roller lifter retrofit posts, there's a recent one that has some pics.

formula- those are what I have now- and they are too tall.
I searched the web and the only info I found (at JBody.org) indicates that the 2.2/2.4 has two cams- sounds like overhead cams to me. Anybody got any ideas or links?

I tried doing all kinds of searches and I couldn't find anything on 3.1 v6 roller lifters. one day I typed in 3.1 chevy roller lifters on ebay and that site (kay 454) came up. He had 2 sets and I gave him the buy it now price of $80. Then I emailed him and asked if he could break up another set for me to make a set of 16. He said he could but usually guys who want 16 of them just order 2 sets of thr 4 cyl lifters.
It sounds like this seller is familiar with this retrofit and I suggest contacting him.
You might be able to order everything in one shot.

Rock Auto Dot Com has the right lifters listed. The '94+ 3.1L and the 2.2L four both list HT2270 roller lifter from Sealed Power. Still looking for better prices though. Rock Auto also lists the AC Delco at a higher price, as well as .010 oversized lifters. Hot on the trail, just don't have anything tacked down at the moment.

Looks like GM Parts Direct Dot Com has part number 17120070 listed as the 3.1L roller lifter. Doesn't look like it's the same as a V8 like SDPC sent you as they list the V8 roller lifter as 5234890. Now, do I take the chance or not...
GMPartsdirect.com wants $225 shipped to me, Im looking for something a little *cheaper*,LOL.... although its really not bad. Rockwhatever total's like $208 unshipped. Im gonna keep looking too. Thanks for everyones help.

Yeah, for those prices I'd be getting the retrofit rollers from the aftermarket. Still searching ebay and want ad sites... but at least we have some part numbers.

I wrote to kay 454 via ebay and asked if there were any 3.1 or 2.2 available- the reply I got were that they were the same, and that they didnt have many left. He/she said they would be on EBAY, I asked if I could "but them now" and what quantity they had- but I didnt get a reply yet. I would like to know the best parts store price though....

Yes the holes can be drilled and tapped. Its only three holes, and their exact location isnt that exact if you now what I mean- ther is some play to its placement,There are pics on the Corvetteforum.com site of a converted 400 sbc. search "C4 tech" for something like "L98 roller in L98 flat tappet block" The front retainer isnt needed, but you must use a cam button and adjust endplay just like a retrofit roller.
