Teflon Tape on Intake Bolts

Would it work? I've used it on my screw in studs with good results. Just wondering.

Tape might be better than nothing, but it is not ideal. Tape and most pipe compounds are made to lubricate the thread and slightly seal tapered pipe joints. It isn't made to seal larger gaps of straight threads.

The better solution would be to use an anerobic thread sealant, like Loctite/Permatex PST. It contains teflon, but also is a sealant that will control larger gaps in straight threads under excessive pressure and temperature variations.

Yeah, why risk teflon tape? Besides, I can never get the residue entirely off after I torque down a fitting and it always looks kinda crappy. Thread sealant doesn't cost that much, either.

Well, for starters, the tape is solid, and is kinda a pain to apply correctly. The sealant is a liquid that contains teflon and a sealing agent when it dries. All it takes is a drop on the end of the threads and you're ready to seal it up.
