Whats with a *****'s intake??

My friend took off his airbox and it gets so deep and loud when he gets on it and for christmas he got a cold air intake and now it is loud all the time. Now I took my airbox off and made cold air setup after cold air setup and I cant get mine to sound any different. Whats wrong?

Air baffle of some sort? If you're faster than him i wouldn't even worry about it. Concentrate on that sweet sweet 3.8 Turbo!!!
Then u get him to ask all about your car

Hey Monkie, I took my air box out and put a cone K&N filter in its place. Have you ever heard a turbo sneeze? Boy does that intimidate some people!!!!!

Your filter element is probably too far from the throttle body for you to hear the air rushing in. BTW, that sound is valve howl. I remember my Jeep had the most awesome throaty growl with the K&N open element filter. I can't get my IROC to sound anything like it even with the filters removed. All I get is this horrible hiss. Now the carb guys, I envy you all. Nothing like hearing the motor scream like that. Again, u can hear valve howl because the filter's sitting right on top of the carb.

Ram-air setup coming soon

Ported plenum
