Start new engine when its cold out??

Start new engine when its cold out??
HEy guys I have building a new motor for my car and its freezein here, its actually snowing rigth now. Is it to cold for me to start a brand new motor or does it not matter at all? thanks

Well starting a new engine can be hard on it if it's pretty cold out. Usually below 25 degrees. Ask me how I know. I live in the cold. Has the engine been pre-lubed? If the car is out in the cold then you have some cold, thick oil on the bottom of the oil pan and no lube in the cylinders. So yes you want to get it as warm as you can for a new start up. Cold ,thick oil means not much lube untill it warms up.. So if you can't pre-lube it then either wait untill it warms up some or you can get a metal bucket or cookie sheet and put some charcoal under the oil pan to get it warm. We do this alot up here if you don't have a block heater. Hope this helps.
