removing my 305...how to unbolt the tranny??

removing my 305...how to unbolt the tranny??

hey all,

I am planning on removing the 305lg4 from my firebird for rebuild, i've never done this before but i have a good knowledge of what to do, i know how to do everything about removing it and such but one area im a little in the dark on... removing the auto (700r4)tranny. What am I removing? does anyone know of any good articles? those damn Haynes manuals dont really tell you much and doesnt even have a pic of it =\

If your just pulling the motor, and leaving the trannie in.

Remove torque converter shield.
Remove torque converter to flexplate bolts.
Remove trannie dip stick to head bolt.
Remove trannie oil lines from radiator, and you'll need to remove any brackets holding the trannie line to the side of the engine.
Remove bell housing bolts.
If you have a spare jack, though it under the trannie pan with a piece of wood. The trannie likes to drop when you seperate it from the motor. It makes things a lot easier for the reinstall.

I think thats about it.
