My stock '87 350 damper is 6-3/4" dia....

It should be internally balanced.

6 and 3/4ths or 8".. I've seen both on these cars stock.. not sure which one for which years though.. or if it makes a difference.. maybe someone else knows for sure.. AFAIK any neutrally balanced one should be fine.

You can use any size, the larger like 8" will work better (reduce the bad vibes) the down side is they usually weight more. A smaller, lighter one will let the engine rev faster. can't you just bust out a tape measure on your existing damper/harmonic balancer?

Thats what I did. My stock bottom end 350 is sitting on the floor. A new 395 will be going in. I measured that factory damper with a tape,,, 6 3/4" dia. And I know that these engines are internally balanced.
