Can this roller cam work in a 75 400 sbc? I plan on using a retrofit hyd. roller lifters from comp cams. But the big thing is how the cam is held in the older block. I guess the newer roller blocks use a plate to keep the rolller cams from moving wheras the older blocks had 1deg ground into the lobe and used spring pressure to keep the cam from moving.

Cam buttons, thrust plate, block protector plate etc etc. Do any of these allow for using the LT4 hot cam in a older block. I am planning on a HSR 406 as more of a street engine and think the hot cam would work good in this application.

And found that if I machine off the ears off the newer retaining plate and use a cam button the hot cam should work. And make sure to use a 87+ timing chain.

 

you might want to think about how you're going to locate or hold the lifters too.

 

Sounds like he's going to use Comp retro rollers, ede.

But where did you find out about machining the ears off the spacer?
I assumed that wouldn't work, cause the ID of the spacer is so much bigger than the dia of the part it rides on, it seems like it would shake all over the place. But what do I know?
Also where do you get a cam button that fits an 87> timing sprocket?
I'd like to find out. Thanks
