how do I get water pump pulley off?

how do I get water pump pulley off?


Is there a strap tool or something to hold the pulley while you loosen the 4 bolts?or is there another way?thanks

If you leave the belts on there is usually enough friction. Make sure you're turning the bolt the right way and hold the pully with your hand. You may be able to get vice grips clamped on but I don't think they'd hold too well.

Yes, Ridgid and several other companies offer high-quality strap wrenches that are ideal for such purposes. I've always found it easier to leave the accessory belts on to loosen the nuts, then remove the belts (like 84FTA said).

In addition to leaving the accessory belt on, use a wrench and hit it with quick blows from your hand or smack it with a hammer. Pulling slowly on the wrench usually makes the pulley slip. Nice sharp blows usually gets the job done.
