Race motor 354ci???
I am thinking about running a road course around here that has a cubic in limit of 366ci. I have a spare 400 block and can get a 283 crank, if my memory seves me, the 283 is 3.25 stroke, for 354 cu in. I know it would be expensive but would a engine of this sort be feasable??? Or should I just look at 350's??
Any and all comments are welcome. I almost think myself I'm off my rocker.

The 283 has a 3" stroke.
The 327 has a 3.25" stroke.
Yes it will work, and has been done. Obviously you need a large-journal 327 crank, and a set of main bearing spacers; you can use rather long rods (longer than 6") if you want to, but almost any combo will require custom pistons.

Correct me if I'm wrong RB, (seem to be on a roll today) but will a 307 crank work? They're usually easier to find, and cost a heck of a lot less also.
That would give you 352.5 cubic inches with the block bored .030" over.

You're not wrong at all!!
Only thing is, those are all cast, and usually poor quality control castings at that. They would work just the same, as far as working goes, but would sort of defeat the whole idea of getting a little more rev capability than a normal 350.

What would you think the power potential would be reving it to 8000?
It would most likely be using the IE 215's from the 400?

The car is legally mine, but he just signed it over to me because of his bad health, and Im the only one who enjoys vehicles and if something happens to him he doesnt want it sold. I will be swapping in the 352ci for him this summer. I will report on comparision to his current motor.
