fouled plugs

hey guys. Recently I replaced plugs once again in my car. (they were all black and carbonated.) I had just replaced them in about May. My choke valve on the carb was never fully open. Could this be the culprit as suspected? I still get really bad mileage. I havent tested it. But it seems the same. About 12mpg.

Also Im wondering Ive been using plus octane. There reg. plus and super and like ultra or something at some places. To run the best and get the best mileage while having power what should I use? Is plus an overall good blend?

Nate

Sounds like your fouled plugs are because you are running rich. Don't waste your time mixing fuels. Pick an octane that you can run on without ping and your fine. Try to find out why ou are running rich and I bet your problems are cured.

Ya I might just actually buy a holley carb or something. My friends dad said that it would run 100 times better. But I wouldnt have some of the features of my quadrajet. Im not really getting any engine noise. So I think Ill just stick with plus gas. Ive been putting it in since Ive had my car basically.

I still think your carb is out of tune. If you have not changed anything on it may just needs a good cleaning.

How do I go about cleaning it? I dont want to f*ck anything up you know. It says on carb cleaner dont spray here, dont do this. So Im very cautious about using it.

It is best to take it off and spray it. That way you don't get any in your motor and or everywehere under your engine bay. I would take it off and spray a little in various cracks and ports and what not and watch the funk come out.

Did you fix the choke? I assume from what you said that you did. If not, get it working properly.

Is your SES light coming on? Is the bulb working? If it's coming on, you need to retrieve the trouble codes and work from there. If the bulb works and it's not coming on while you drive, that is important information.

I doubt whatever issues you're having will be solved with a can a carb cleaner (except perhaps a sticking, gummed-up choke linkage). More info required.

A weak coil and/or ignition module will cause these problems without setting any codes.

Well my carb didnt open like its supposed to so I had adjusted it to stay open all the time. Even cold. Im gonna test my mileage soon. And maybe check the plugs too to see if theyre carboning up again...
