Solid cams vs. knock sensors?

excuse my lack of knowledge

I am looking into a cam, and have never run a hydraulic cam in any motor I have built. They have all been carbed and I would like to try to learn the whole EFI thing and keep my TPI.

Would a mechanical cam or a mechanical roller make the knock sensor take false readings?

Probably not.

Knock sensors are "tuned" to the specific resonant frequency of a bore size. As long as the mechanical noise produced by the valve train doesn't "sound" too much like a 4" bore to the knock sensor, it won't hear it.

Tech is close enough.

Only thing I know is what I've heard. I've "heard" that solid lifters and gear cam drives will mess with the sensor's head. I don't have any "solid" evidence to that, however.

FWIW, my daughter's '92 Lumina was running like a dog. After replacing the noisy water pump & alternator (both of which were operating fine otherwise), it "seemed" to have more power again.

Is there a way to delete the knock sensor in any way?

you can add a resister in line but i don't know the value of it or wrap the knock senser with some extra teflon tape to make it less sensitive to false knock.

my friends gear drive did cause alot of false knock with his motor.

he eliminated the knock sensor by using a resistor... i dont know the resistance either... if someone knows it, please post up.
