belt question, water pump slippage?

when i remove my AC + smog and all that other crap, i will have a shorter belt( 50 3/4 ") to go around the PS, alt, crank and waterpump. in order to keep everything spinning the same way, the belt has to come clockwise around the crank and right up to the alt, and over the top, clockwise. the belt only touches about 1/4, if that, of the waterpump pulley inbetween(the crank and alt), and the waterpump goes counterclockwise.

anyway the question is, that with so little of the waterpump pulley coming into contact with the belt, think i will run into over heating problems. would it matter alot if the water pump sliped every now and then when i hit the gas?

alright

thanks guys for all the help .

i found it after, thanks to speed88, its dayco poly cog PN# 5060500 . it should work if you have the 2.5" alt pulley...you can remove the AC + smog stuff for $20. not bad.

Just noticed your message... you were only going to have a quarter inch of the belt touching the water pump pulley? That doesn't sound good to me... I'd want a little more insurance on that water pump if it were my car. You could always go for one of those $500 Meziere electric pumps too... I believe they're still the most durable for actual street use.

no, i didn't mean for it to sound that way...a quarter of the perimeter of the waterpump pulley is touched by the belt...it should be good.
