Weird oil pressure...

I usually have been running 5w 30 weight oil in my car. Well the last time I got my oil changed I had them switch to 5w 40 weight oil because I had a small gasket leak. My oil has maintained the same pressure state for a while. Well I put oil in it the other day, I think I put 10 w 40 in it though. Just a quart . Well anyway the pressure is a lot lower than it usaully is lately. I idle at the halfway mark between the 0 and the 30, and when I go, have my foot on the gas it's around the 30 sometimes a hair over sometimes a hair under. Is this anything to panic about? Because well I'm panicking.

10 psi per 1000 rpm is good. might want to check it with a mechanical gauge

Just change the sending unit. The mech gauge is a great idea if you already have one, but it's a real PITA and extra $$$$ to go buy one and deal with the hassle of hooking it up, just to discover that your sending unit is bad like they always are.

The stock pump and oiling system in these cars usually does about 45-50 psi hot cruising, 20-25 hot idling.

Run 10W-30 instead of 5W-40; the "W" number is the base stock viscosity, and the other number is what it acts like with all of the stabilizers. Needless to say, it takes ALOT of stabilizers to provide a 25-number spread; and having your crankcase full of stabilizers instead of oil is probably not really a good thing.
