No idle=no fun

Hey people
I have an 88 formula 350 firebird with a 350 which has 56000 on the rebuild. It is no longer holding and idle. THe sparkplugs are new, the wires are clean, new fuel filter, the oil is clean no other fluids so that would lead me to beleive teh compression is cool, new cap and roter, the vacum lines are solid, I also unplugged the powerchip but it did not cure its peralysis. THe only thing I can think of is the mass air flow sensor. I unplugged it and it still did not hold an idle. I then purchased a new maf but it did nothing. The trouble code went away which was a 33----> low vacumm or high voltage signal from maf, just unpluged the battery and it does not display any trouble codes. So I would really appreciate any suggestions you might have. I just got it painted and new rims but its being stuborn!

PS I think it could be the fuel pump since it is still stock and I have 187000 miles on it. Is there anyway to test it since it is in the tank?

pps. I ve also noticed that the valve for the max ac switch connected by a hose to the bottom of the throttle boddy has leaked fluid all over the passenger side of the car .. it looks like alkeline battery corrosion. There is a white film on the headers only on the passenger side and only one inch from where it bolts onto the head but all the way from the front of the block to the back....the headers the spark plug boots and the header bolts have this white coating what does this indicate?? Thanks again

the white coating usually indicates heating up and cooling down

like if u burn steel, the outside of the steel that isnt getting the full power of the torch usually turns white.. I would suggest one/or more of your plug boots wasnt protecting the wire and possibly burned a hole which is disabling the plug from getting the full juice to spark the plug... go out at night and start her up n see if you can see any spark...

how are your injectors firing? the fuel pump is a simple test.

go to autozone n by a fuel pressure gauge, rig it into the line, should be above 45psi.

cheers

have you made sure your tps is set correctly and then reset your minimum air? i'd do that before i try anything else.

Thanks

I appreciate your advise. It turned out to be cloged fuel injectors. So I put in half a bottle of techron and it ran like a dream. It worked too well. I highly recomend this to people with similar problems since it is a cheap (relative to taking it to mechanic) and very effective. The white deposites could be from a fouled spark plug wire and/or timing so I will check those next.
Thanks guys for all your feed back
back to terrorizing the streets !!hehe and the fuel pump!
