Oil pressure sender wont fit

I have purchased a KEM and Borg-Warner oil oressure sending unit, and neither will thread into the hole. They seem to be threaded slightly differently then the OEM part.

Has anyone had this problem? If so, what brand of oil pressure sender did you use to rectify the problem.

I have a 305 TPI VIN F.

should be 1/8"NPT. if you have the old part compare it to the new one, or take it with you to the store.

That's a spec for a size of tapered pipie thread, like what water pipe has. 1/8" pipe has an ID of 1/8" unlike tubing which is usually measured by OD.

Go to the hardware store and look in the plumbing dept. A pic is worth 1000 words.

In any case, there are no alternate threads for oil pressure senders. If it looks even remotely close, it's the right one. One thing you might want to check though: make sure you have your old sender unscrewed from any other fitings it might be attached to.

When I swaped my 2.8 v-6 to a 327 v-8 I had the same prob. The threads were different from my oil guage's sender. I went to advanced auto and bought an oil sender adapter kit. It should be in the aisle with all the guages. It was like $6 and had like 7 different fittings. It should work for ya.

I went to a dealer to look at an AC-Delco oil pressure sender... Although he didn't have one in stock, he assured me that it was 1/8" pipe thread. He said any replacement oil pressure sender should fit.

He whipped out an exploded diagram of the engine and pointed to the adapter (fitting) that the oil pressure sender screws into (which then screws into the block) and said "hey maybe this is what you need to replace". So i bought that for $15 and have yet to try it out.

The moral of the story is that if you need the adapter for an oil pressure sender (0-60 PSI gauge) then the part # is:14047850. It's pretty easy to over-tighten the sending unit and destroy the threads.

Yea, and let's not get into that metric foolishness with all their crazy pitches.
