383 Stroker LT1, what kinda power?

383 Stroker LT1, what kinda power?
alright guys, i'm thinking of buying me a cheap LT1 and boring the cylenders, 0.030 over and then putting a 383 Stroker Kit in it that comes from Eagle. What kinda power do these LT1 383's produce guys? I know that i can use a standard small block chevy stroker kits in the LT1 too. I might be also doing some porting of the manifold and stuff. Maybe a little larger cam, most likely a LT4 hot cam.
With a LT1 383 Stroker, LT4 hot cam, and a small amount of porting, how much power could this produce?
Also im pretty sure that if i get the LT1 hot cam i gotta get new rockers and springs, correct?
I might eventually convert the LT1 to a LT4 to get the absolute max out of this engine; Thats in a lot of time to come though.

Depends on a lot of other factors, bolt-on's, head flow, etc. I'd guess around the neighborhood of 400 HP at the crank, more with good porting/heads, and the right bolt-ons.

I'm doing nearly, if not the exact same thing. There are still a few things up in the air on my project. For one thing, I wish the LT1 would bolt up to vortecs.
Anyhow, I've been looking at some of the literature put out by TPIS, and there are some 383 LT1 tests in there.
I don't know whether to believe these claims or not, but they're saying: tq 479@4750 and hp 464@5500.
That's with their ZZ-9 cam (which is less cam than the hotcam) and a set of modded LT1 heads, and 1-3/4" headers.
Sounds like wishful thinking to me, but I thought I'd post it anyhow.
I think that for myself I'll go with the CC XE269HR (close to the same numbers as the hotcam), and find some heads that will suffice til I can afford a set of AFRs.
It sounds like some of the guys are saying that the Comp Cams idle a little smoother than the hotcam.

i told you before, i'm gonna use the LT1 intake manifold, some nice headers(biggest i can get), LT4 hot cam, Stock heads until i get the money for a LT4 conversion.
I will do some porting to the heads and manifold but i really cant do much more than that.
I will be rebuilding my 700R4 so that it can handle the power too. Also a new rear end.
I will be trying to get as much outta thins engine as i posible can. But dont consider it on a budget but i dont want things that are really only gonna give me 5 HP/5 ft/lbs, its bull todo that.

Well, as far "the biggest I can get" you can get custom race headers that are HUGE. Remember you can over header the car. There's a ying and yang when it comes to the input to the output of the engine. You dont want to have the top +5 and the bottom -12, etc... 1 3/4 should be perfect for that combo

well thats was what i mean 1 3/4in. I always considered that the most you can buy premade to fit on our cars. I dont know hwoto weld gentlemen. So making my own headers is outta the question. Or else i wouldn't be expecting to spec $350 on some nice headers.

With some mild porting and the hot cam you could see around 450 at the crank. I would go bigger on the cam though. Check out www.camaroz28.com and see what those guys are running. Some make as much as 500+ with their set-ups.
