need nelp on head gasket

I am about to install the heads and was wondering if it matters which way the head gaskets were supposed to go on. Printed side up or down? I know it may seem like a dumb question, but just want to do it right.

never could quite figure out why, most gaskets look the same, or fit the same, either way, but i've alwasy done and always been told printed side up.
