Windshield washer system

This one might be to easy for you guys, you have solved some tough ones for me latley.

I need to know what tubing / connecters are needed to assemble my washer system. The car we bought has the pump moter on the bottle, which does work however there is no tubing running to the wiper blades. Since it came like that I don't know what I need. Does anyone have a good pic of what the system looks like? I am not even sure if the squirter attaches to the wiper arms or the leaf screen or what. I am sure I can buy a kit just not sure what to buy.

Please help if you can.

Thanks,

The tubes & squirters run to the wiper blades. If nobody else can post pics I'll try to post some up later on today. Hope this helps

Thanks, acescarrsRS

You probably don't need the washer system in Hawaii !!!!! like we do here in Michigan. Salt and snow all winter!

Anything you can offer would be a great help,

Thanks again

WAG since my car doesn't have one, or a wiper motor. i think it's 1/8" tube plus a couple of tee connectors and you should be all set. all you really need to do is look at where you have to start at and where you want to go, find the size of each fitting and how many branches and run the lines.

ede,

Yes, but I don't know how the tubing connects to the wiper arms. I suppose there is a factory clip and plastic tubing connectors or something, thats what I would need to know.

P.S.

Why no wash set up in your car ?

Usually, wipers aren't necessary at the track. Running in rain isn't that common.

My T/A is just a driver, but I can't remember the last time I used the wipers, either. I use Rain-X and keep the wipers parked on the shipping blocks so the blades don't lose tension.

You must not live in the snow belt like I do. Michigan winters are brutal. Actually the car is my 16 year old sons, we bought it in October and unfortunatly he has to drive it around in the winter. We have been restoring it and it is really starting to look good.

Bottom line, he has to use the wipers around here.

Ok Tom here you go. First, you run the hose from the washer fluid pump along the driver side fender lip area. Second pic shows where the hose enters the firewall, it's right behind the brake booster, Then comes out of the top area by the screen. I circled those points

This pic shows where the squirters are on the wiper arm & which way they squirt. There are 2 of them & they clip onto the arm. I don't know the part #'s for them.

This pic shows how you feed both wipers with the hoses. You can see how it goes through the screen also.

Ok last pic. Sorry Moderators, I know I posted more than 3 pics, but last one I promise You can't really see it too good but the hose running on the wiper arm is smaller than the hosing before it gets there. Just use an inline tee to get to a smaller hose size. Also it snakes through the spring at the bottom of the arm. If you don't know what spring I'm talking about I circled it so just pull your arm up a little then you'll see what I'm talking about. PM me if you have any other questions. Hope this all helps & good luck on your little project

If you have trouble finding the connectors, just head down to Home Depot and go to the irrigation section. You can use the connectors and t-connectors for lawn and garden drip systems. They are small enough to fit.

Re: Windshield washer system

Did you need to remove that black plastic assembly with the screen in it in order to run the hose through the firewall?

Re: Windshield washer system

It's been 13 years, why wouldn't you just start a new thread?

The easy way to go would be to remove the wipers and the cowl screen. Or if you want to fiddle around longer than it'd take to remove the parts, you might be able to fish something semi-flexible (such as weed-eater line) through the holes, and use it to pull the hoses back through. But it'd be easier to just pull the screen.

Yeah, but it's easy. Lift up on the arm, and slide the little tab at the bottom away from the arm, then they pull right off. Then there's one 7mm screw in the middle that has to come out, then the cowl screen just is snapped in. Carefully pry up at the clips and it should pop off easily.
