I've got a "new" 84 Z, and am giving it a routine tune up. I'm changing the plugs........and two of the plugs came out with this cap on the end of the plub. It's threaded, same thread as the plugs themselves, and has a small hole.... The plugs appear to be fine, but how is this going to allow my engine to fire correctly?

What in the world is this? Any ideas?

 

Sounds like a plug saver to stop an oil burning engine from getting fouled plugs.

They are called "anti-foulers" and if your car is burning oil or somthing, it prevents the burnt residue from buiding up on the electrode causing it to foul out.

That would make sense...the engine needs to have the valve seals replaced, but I used that as a perfect excuse to upgrade to some vortec heads......Thanks again.

 

How does a "new" 84Z need valvestem seals and a tune-up?
