Actually, 16 inch third gens were the 245/50R16. The fourth gen 16 inch tires were 245/45R16. So you'll be even better off.

I think there's more to consider though. Wheel well depth is different, as far as I can tell, on different types of 3rd gen's, but I've never seen any kinda numbers on them. For example, I have a 91 Firebird with a 305 tbi with 215/65r15 (stock size, I believe) and my friend has a 89 iroc with 225/55r15 tires (I think that's right).. my tires rub, but his don't.

a 245/50/16,no matter if its on a 3rd,4th,
vette,or anything else,is still a 245/50/16.
The thing that matters is the wheel offset on the rim.If it s a stock 3rd gen 16" rim you shouldnt have a problem.

Sorry Don, but I know for a fact that the fourth gens (at least the 16 inch) tires are all 45 series. Not 50.

more than likely you have the factory plastic wheelwell inserts, so it doesn't really matter much if they do rub a little at full turn.

For some reason my right side front tire (falken ZIEX 245/50RZr16 tire) rubs when I turn the wheel at low speeds.
