What "cc" are my 87 Iroc-Z Heads?
Looking to building up my motor to handle a good shot of nitrous, and was looking into some pistons. Im curious as to what "cc" 87 Iroc Z heads are. Are they 76 or 64? Or even better yet, can anyone recommend some pistons/rods for using nitrous, preferably from experience. Thanks alot. Looking to run around 100-150 shot. Thanks.

For 150hp nitrous shot you don't need to get to carried away with special parts. Stock rods are more than up to the job.
For a 100-150hp shot of nitrous you can use a stock type piston as long as you use good pump gas (Sunoco 94) and avoid detonation. 2 steps cooler spark plugs and 4 degrees less ignition timing are recommended.
As long as the motor is in good overall condition, and you under stand that detonation must be avoided,
you're ok with stock parts at this level.
The secret is to supply the engine with enough extra fuel of high octane (Sunoco 94 or better) while using moderately less ignition timing and cooler spark plugs.
If you want more power than this (200+shot), its time for a forged piston and a rebuild.
If your stock motor is high mileage then a rebuild is recommended anyways.
If you want to mix some high octane race gas in with the Sunoco 94, feel free. (much more effective than little cans of octane booster) In southern Ontario we use
110 octane "Mark II" unleaded race gas available in Mississauga from Pro Fuels. It's also sold at the track.
Follow this , and you're all set for 100-150 nitrous fun.
Here's some links.
