Flywheel problems???
I have an 84 berlinetta LG4, at certain times theres a strange metal sound (kind of like scraping on an edge), I have traced the sound and it looks like its coming from the flywheel itself? Can these go bad and if they can, how can I tell if it is or what it may be???

i'd be kinda shocked if you found a flywheel on that car.. anyhoo makes sure the converter bolts are tight against the flexplate (flywheel) while your under there inspect it closely and look for cracks..

why would you be shocked to find a flywheel on my car, 89? Ede, could it not always make noise, it seems to start whenever it wants to and then seems to slow down and stop for a while..

a cracked flexplate wont stop making noise once it starts and they only get louder.. still do the usual.. visually inspect it.. make sure the bolts are tight make sure the inspection cover isnt hitting.. while your at it you might wanna check your heat shields out a loose one could make some noise, especially if its the one on top of your cat with a few broken welds.... just a thought.... try to be a little bit more descriptive about the problem.. are you positive thats the area its coming from? does it very with rpm? does it very under different types of load?

sorry, it does vary with rpm, it is coming from the flywheel/flexplate location...it seems to be non-intermittent, it just starts making the noise for about 10 to 15 mins and then seems to slowly stop and go back to silent, and one last thing, it doesnt have an inspection cover, I have no idea why?
