Anybody using a XE247H comp cam?

Anybody using this cam (.487/.490 lift 230/236 duration)on a TPI? Comp cams recommended to me but I am a little concerned about the 110 degree lobe sep. I like the lift and duration specs. I would like to see the lobe sep at about 112-114 The heads are AFR 190's.

I used it for a while in my 400 (std bore) but with a carb. It ran like a scalded dog. The motor sounded real good too, it sounded like it was really angry and wanted to jump up out of there and kill something. IMHO it will be too much duration for a TPI though even if you had a custom grind with 114 lobe sep.

I think you'd do better with a XE268H and 1.6 rockers.

I would recommend from experience to stay at or above a 112 degree lope sep with TPI.Anything less will give the motor a rough idle, and stall frequently.I run this cam in my 355(carb)w/ AFR,and it does run like hell, and sounds very healthy.I would say to try to get a cam with lobe sep around 112 like you ask,and you will be much happier. You want to try to stay a little lower than this on Dur. otherwise you start to trade off the TUNED effect of the TPI,just for a killer sound.I would recommend around 220-225.Just my recommendation, hope it helps you out.

Thanks guys

I think I am going to go with the XE268H-14 as RB suggests. The 114 lobe sep should make it pretty tame.

I have a custom Comp Cams 230/236 degree cam sitting here witha 112 LSA. It's a custom that I bought for my minirammed 385.
