I recently had motor work done to my car, a new comp cam and valve train. A new oil filter and new oil was put in it, but now my oil pressure is running lower than ever before. its not in the red yet but at idle it gets real close and also only when it idles it starts making a rubbing sound at the timing chain cover like its starving for oil. but when i push up the rpms a little the sound goes away. WHATS WRONG WHAT CAN I DO PLEASE HELP.
PS the car runs great its more powerful than ever since i had the work done. its just the oil pressure problem that has me really worried.

 

Before getting excited about the pump, check the oil pressure some other way. Or, just replace the sending unit, they go bad very often.

The sound could be any number of things... get a piece of heater haose and stick one end in your ear and listen all around to pinpoint the exact source of the noise.

If you had it done, I'd recommend you take it back to the shop and have them look at it.

If you start tinkering you'll void any warranty they might have in effect.
