300hp 305 TPI Cooling problems!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I Have a 305 tpi with a t-5 manual tranny. The 305 TPI was from an 88' firebird and im putting it in my 92' camaro RS which has a 3.1 automatic. Can i reuse my 3.1 radiator, it seems in good condition. I also got help from one guy and he told me to get a dual fan set up,should i and if so what type and size to i need. I also have a 180 degree thermostat, and a flow kooler(flows 30% over stock water pump) is this ok. What can i possible do besides spening $480.00 on be cool radiator is there a place that sells an alluminum radiator for a cheap price. thanks

Griffin will make you an aluminum radiator for much cheaper, but your stock V6 radiator should be more than enough already.
There are reasons why GM went to the dual-fan setup, but the older 85-86 single fans cool much better. Just grab one from a junkyard and wire it using a heavyduty relay.

im with odb the dual fan setup is good but, think about the drain on the alt and batt!? its twice that of the single fan! a single should be good enough! the stock 3.1 rad. could be big enoughbut, if its the one used in the f-body v8s then no way to small id also go with either the griffin or get a universal 31x19 be coolrad. for about 250$ much cheaper than the correct one for those cars!

Car: 89 IROC-Z
Engine: LB9
Transmission: 700-R4
Definitely use a good water pump and single or dual electrics. I'd get the cheapest radiator you can find that has 6 or 7 tubes - check in summit they have progressively more tubes based on your horsepower - if your v-6 one has enough by that standard just get it flushed and use all new hoses with good coolant and water wetter and you should be fine.

Base: 89 Iroc-Z LB9 auto 2.73 posi
Exh: 3" Dynomax muffler, 3" Pipe in place of cat
Ign: GMPP 8MM wires, Accel cap&rotor, AC Plugs
Fuel: Cleaned and flow-matched injectors, afpr, !air pump&diverter valve
Sound: Clarion deck, Kicker speakers and amps
Suspension/Drivetrain: KYB Shocks, BMR Strut Tower Brace
Misc: TB Bypass, All synthetics, Flexlite Transmission cooler
On the way: flow tech headers, alum. driveshaft
"You say turn that volume down? Well all I gotta say to you is NO, no no no no...

if u havent already done so get a LOWER TEMP thermostat(180) and fan switch or do it manually
if u do have a lower stat...try drilling 2 1/16 holes in the side of the thermo for continous cooling(around the rim)
and a better water pump
no I dont overheat
