Guys, i posted something similar to this a few days ago.
The service light will not work(for diagonostic mode) or turn off at all. I checked all of the connections and even tried different memcal/prom combos. When the car is running , the service light is on constat. When trying to go to diagnostic mode, the light stays on constant still. Will not flash at all or do anything.
Bad ECM right?
I'm going to replace it soon, just want to know if there is anything i can check to make sure?

Brendan

One way to check if you have a bad ECM is to hit it while the car is running. If you hear the motor skip a beat, then you do have a bad ECM.
You may want to take it to an electrical shop, sound like it may be a short.

I'd get a service manual diagnostics chart out first. It could be a fuse, wire or ground to the ECM.

Well i've "beat" the ecm. That didn't help. And i'm not talking about a Light slap either.
I don't have a service manual at all..

I think you are in a world of hurt. Code 12 indicates the ecm is working properly and is in diagnostic mode. I don't think you have a wiring problem because the car runs. I would consult a diagnostic chart before condeming the ecm completely though.
