Tricky Dicky Switchy
Well, congruent with my newfound obsession to make as many things in my car switchable as possible, I wanted to see if anyone on here has tried a switch to simultaneously disable the O2 sensor on tpi and also switch the cts of the computer to 640 ohms while switching the fan cts to the hottest setting. Oh, and this would also be with about 55-60 psi. Wouldn't the effect when the switch was thrown be tremendous? Bad mileage sure but that's why the switch. I had fun torching a new mercedes on the highway today but with a switch like that and once I install my normally closed 3-4 trans switch it would have been even more convincing. The computer would not see O2 data so the increased pressure would have a real effect to the tune of maybe 20-25 horses. It would also see a cold engine so pulse width would be increased compounding the pressure effect. The fans would come on for some real cooling and I'm thinking the engine would scream. Oh, and speaking of rpms, with a stroke of 3.48 on a stock LB9 isn't my max rpm something like 6034? It just seems odd that my redline is 5 grand if the "real" redline is 1K more. Thanks for info.

sounds more to me like the ecm would go into limp home mode and lose power.

Well when you go WOT, the computer already ignores the 02 sensor and goes into open loop. Disabling the 02 sensor won't make the ECM go into limp home, it will just run in open loop all the time. I don't know about 25hp, but fooling the computer into thinking it's running colder is gonna have a minimal effect on power.

Oh, I had just read in "how to tune and modify chevrolet fuel injection" that the reason boosting fp does NOT result in huge hp improvements is the O2 telling the computer to reduce pulse width. He suggests disconnecting the O2 at the track to counter this. Thanks for the opinions, I had wondered about limp home mode... Hey kYle how come you don't post much anymore? Just tired of repetition?
Well, my *boss* at the pizza place where I work just bought a turbonetics 10 psi kit for his eclipse spyder that's supposed to result in 384 hp, but I'm almost sure that's not at the wheels. I was going to build up an engine but I'm having too much fun with the 305; if I can come by a *cheap* rebuilt turbo or two and an old set of manifolds or cheap headers (flowtech or walker) I might try to fab something up...guess it's time to talk to Andris. Thanks again...
