last exh manifold bolt hole on 80s LG4 and L69 engines
ok those of you who have replaced or repaired exhaust of an (80'-up of course)LG4 or L69 vehicle know well enough about the last exhaust manifold bolt hole that is spaced farther back about an inch or so..
now my Q is in regards to what you can do about this when you are replacing the original LG4 L69 engine with a non LG4 L69 305 or even another and/or older era liter size of SBC engine in which has heads with evenly spaced exhaust manfolds bolt holes
do you:
A. just live with having all except the last bolt installed
or B. try to find an exact replacement 80s LG4 or L69 engine from an 80-up car,
or C. put the LG4 L69 58cc heads on whatever engine you are putting in place of the original LG4 or L69
my dilemma is that i have an 82 trans am factory LG4 car and i no longer have the original above spark plugs style manifolds or Y pipe but the exhaust pipe and muffler setup from converter back is stil all intact under the car and i put in a 1976 2 bolt passenger car 350 engine into the trans am and tried to use the common larger heavy 70s manifolds and head pipes for common 70s applications, well the driver side wetn awesome but the pass side pipe will not clear bottom side of tranny X member and the outlet of the 70s manifold is just too close to body tub of car and to starter wiring and everything
what do you do when youre on a budget ?
i think i should simply find a stock factory pair of LGr L69 manifolds and Y pipe for F body third gen and put all that on the 350 i have in the car and be done for now so that everything will be intact and car can be driveable in which is the entire goal here
please reply with what you think and have done if you have been in my shoes like this with your car ever
thanks

If I have a grasp of what you are trying to accomplish, it seems that you are trying to install a '70s "smog/dog" engine iin your vehicle. If that's the case, you might want to solve your exhaust problem by installing the L69 heads. Chances are, the heads on teh engine are '993s or worse, and you'll be sorely disappointed with the end result. The L69 heads will help that situation quite a bit.
Another option would be headers, but that's outside the "budget" definition.
