Timing

I have a 82 Camaro Berlinetta. I would like to try to time the beast. It has a 5.0 liter engine with a 4 bbl carb and HEI distributer. No vacumm advance. What do I do? Thanks in advance.

Loosen the distributor bolt at the intake manifold and wiggle it to one side a little, then bolt it down and read the timing. If you don't like what you see, repeat.

No, that was not the question. I know how to change it and I have a timing light. I guess the question should be, do I discount anything at the distributor or anywhere else?

I really have to learn how to spell. "discount" should be "disconnect". Thanks

Look at the underhood decal, it will tell you what to disconnect.
