Stupid question but...
I have no motor in one of my cars right now. But I want to put my new cd player in it....is it okay to hook up the battery to a car when the wiring is not hooked up to the starter ect..ect.. so i can run the system?
Like just seperate the starter wires and all and just hook up the batt?
Thanks, Jensen

Yes.
i did this when I was waiting for my engine to come back last winter. I used a nut and bolt to secure together the ring terminals that should bolt on to the starter solenoid. I then covered these with a rag to stop any shorts and just connected up the battery.
Obviously, all hot connections to the battery positive have to be made-which is why I secured together all the wires that went to the starter solenoid. Be prepared for warning lights to stay on or misbehave (VATS, SRS etc), since the grounds to the engine block won't be connected up. So some circuits won't be grounded. I actually used a set of jumper cables from these ground wires to battery negative.
Hope this helps.
Andy.
PS Hmmm, sitting in an engineless car listening to some tunes.............sounds darn good to me!! No harm in imagining. Good luck with your car.
