Cooling fancoming on at 110 degrees. Please help!!!

I have a 1992 camaro with a single cooling fan. I replaced the coolent temp sensor yesterday because the fan did not work at all and now the fan comes on at 110 degrees.
When I was tightning the sensor I heard something crack. Could I have ruined the new sensor? Also I had to replace the wiring to the sensor( original owner cut it). I wired one wire to the green and white wire and one directly to a ground on the car, Did I wire this up correctly? I believe that it now runs all the time. Please help!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jody

Jody,

Test the new CTS with an ohmmeter. The resistance should vary with coolant temperature.

The approximate values are as follows:

If your CTS isn't close to the resistances listed, you may have damaged it on installation.

Oops! I may have misread that one. You TBI car might have a fixed temperature sensor for the fan, in which case it would only turn on and off, not vary resistance. You still can check with an ohmmeter, but expect 0 ohms or infinity. It sounds as if you've got it wired correctly, but still may have damaged it on installation.
