Camaro air Intake question
Camaro air Intake question
What's up guys, hey is there a difference between a TUNED PORT CAMARO air intake, iroc intake, or 6 banger intake. They all look the same to me. Is one bigger then the other? Does one have better air flow? Help me out guys thanks.

lol your post cracks me up.
tuned port injection is just a different set up then throttle body or even carb'd. and yes it would be different, but TBI and the carb intake is the same (big round airfilter on top) lolol

Is this the type of intake you were talking about??? When I read your question and then the reply by Traviz, his answer just didn't seem to fit.

Yea. Here are some links so you can see what i mean.
The first link is from a six banger? The second one is from a TPI. They look the same, just was wondering if one was bigger then the other?

AFAIK its the same intake ducting. I think the only difference is the IAT sensor. V6's used them in the ducting while the TPI had them under the plenum. Hopefully a Camaro person will chime in, I really don't know a Camaro like I know my Firebirds.

Well, from what I can tell they are both from V6 cars. The IAT fitting is the give-away. Located a few inches forward of the rear neck, driver side.
The MAF V6 Camaro's all have that filter setup ('85? through '89). The '90-'92 V6's have a different filter (cannistor style). But can be updated to the 'over the radiator style.'
All TPI Camaro's have that type of intake, minus the IAT fitting ('85? through '92).
Now! There may be a difference between the MAF and SD air filter housings ('90-'92 are SD). From some posts here a while ago folks found that the rear neck is different. This is the round portion that connects to either the MAF or the bellows (SD).
How much different I don't know.
I know of no other differences between them. They even take the same filter elements.
RBob.
