stupid car is smoking....

im getting massive amounts of smoke when i come to a stop while downshifting, or when i have a heavy load accelerating up the cooper bridge.

it was dusk when i disovered this, so i donno if its "blue" or "black" or clutch.... theres 3 possibilitys:

1. new clutch... the clutch is slipping and putting up smoke... but.. i dont think this is it... i can rev with the clutch in, and no smoke, and it feels ok... in anycase, a LT4 clutch shouldnt slip behind a 152hp L03, no matter what.

2. im running rich when downshifting and on the "pump shot" for accelerating... im guessing this may be a good posiblity... i am running a automatic chip in the ECM (ANTT) and i just stuck the manual behind it... perhaps its nothing more then a tuning issue... i HOPE this is the case..

3. i blew the rings.... this is also possible.. athough i really really really hope its not. im just not ready to put the 400 in yet.
for all i know, the added stress of 6th gear with the 2.73s making the engine turn around 1300 RPM was enough stress (cyl pressure) to hurt it...

in anycase, i hope its not too bad... i hope its just the chip making it massivly rich.. (enough that i can see smoke in my rearview).. but somehow i think thats just wishful thinking

so, can running a auto chip on a car with a manual make the smoke happen or what? this is a L03 running ANTT

(btw, i JUST swapped in a T56 right before i saw this..... the car was a 700r4)

Another possibility is worn/leaking valve guides. They can tend to produce smoke on deceleration.

I suppose you don't have a wideband O² and a monitor to check the AFR while driving, eh? That would tell you a lot about your fuel calibrations.

I'd think you could cut the possibilities right in half if you could have someone follow you and determine if it is oil smoke or excess fuel smoke.

i cant believe i didnt think of that... i hope thats what it is... i have had the lil puff on startup for awhile.. about 3months now... athough there is no decel with the auto thats in it... im probly only seeing it now because of the manual....
i guess im changing valve seals this weekend

nope.... but then again, if it was so rich that it made smoke, then wouldnt it peg a narrowband O2 to rich? that would tell me somthing too right?
