Cam bearing...did i skrew it up?????
I was pulling my cam out and I think I hit the very end of the cam bearing with the distributor gear. It is the very end of the bearing, cloest to teh water pump. A friend of mine told me to get som 600grit and smooth the bur's out?

Yes you can polish it out, if it's not too bad. Just remove whatever burr got thrown up by nicking it; don't try to make it smooth or anything radical like that.
Putting the cam gear back on it makes a good handle for controlling it while sliding it out and back in.
If it's a flat tappet cam, be very careful handling it after it's out; a used cam becomes VERY SHARP on the edges of the lobes. I've seen people pick them up carelessly and have them twist in their hands, and slice the whole palm of their hand open down to the bones. Hold it by the bearing journals ONLY!!! Rollers aren't so bad about that.

OK, I took about 5-10 passes over the two scratches with 600grt, then did a final 2-3 swipes with a scotch bright. I could still see the scratches, but it did knock down any burhs that were there. I could never feel any thing sticking up, but i could feel the high/low spots.
After I installed my new cam, the scratches were still visible. I think the scratches do not even touch where the cam rides
I hope so!!!!!!!!
