performance distributors???

Is it wise to put a performance distributor on a stock 350 tpi engine.....Will the distributor be too demanding from the engine especially when the engine is not in top condition......im a newbie at this and just want to know

if it's stock engine i'd spend my money on just about anything but a distributor, on the other hand if you need a distributor i'd look at up grading.

a quality distributor will not hurt your engine at all. It just performs it's function much better than a worn out distributor.
A major factor in picking a distributor is how easy it lets you control the spark curve.

If the motor is a stock TPI motor then it has no advance functions at all, it's entirely controlled by the computer. Like ede said it's therefore mostly a waste of money in a stock situation. Make sure what you already have works right, a new one will make basically no difference at all.

Maybe burning your prom would produce more poewr through advance?

To make the most power, get the following
Headers
Less Restricted intake (cold air intake)
Camshaft (if you know how to mess with them)

This will yield much much more power than a burnt prom or a performance distributor. Of course, it will cost much much more money too.
