mechanical or electrical fuel pump??

ok ok, as for now i'm running a 305 lg4 w/ carter 600 and a aftermarket intake manifold (& vacuum advance distrib) the question is should I go with one of those like high performance edelbrock or similar mechanical fuel pumps or one like those holley red's ?

Either type of pump should work fine for you, its just a matter of personal preference. Its much easier to put in another mechanical pump if you don't want to spend much time on it. If you get an electric you will need to mount it back by the tank and use a regulator which adds to the work involved. I have a carter electric pump, I like them a little better than the holly's because they are quieter. Electric pumps are nice because you can manually turn them off and on and the fuel pressure is much more consistant.

You don't need a regulator with the smaller Carter electric or the Holley Blue, I believe. Holley Blue is PLENTY enough pump for most street/strip app's at/below 400hp. Holley Red needs a reg but comes with it, I thought.
