new starter, no turn... ???
I just replaced my starter and solenoid with a brand new one on my new LO5, it worked perfectly this afternoon when i got it in... i even drove it around, then parked, drove some more, parked some more and then went home... started EVERY TIME, and now, it just wont go... when i turn the ignition on, the starter moves the gear up to the flywheel, but wont crank... as i turned the key slower, i heard a scraping sound coming from my drivers side kickpanel near the door.. i put my hand on it and tried to start again and i felt it vibrate... is there ignition wires that go through right there? is my starter just grounding out??? the battery is fine, it cranks over my dads buick no problem but my car is just lifeless... the problem was a matter of turning the car off, then trying to turn it back on, and it just wont go...
the starter is brand new, i know this for a fact... the battery isnt new, but fully charged... like i said it starts up other cars with ease.. i thought of something though... on our flywheels, is there a difference in ratio from t-5 and th700R4 flywheels? because i was reading on JEGS about starters and they have different ratios... so i was thinking that maybe i got a starter with a different ratio than my flywheel... but then again, it started perfectly for 10-15 starts without skipping a beat... Maybe my flywheel is damaged/teeth missing... ill look at that tomorrow because in my other post about engine noise some ppl said it could be my flywheel... im still stumped... the starter i have in it is much larger than the stock 305 one i pulled out of it... im wondering what the vibration in the kick panel and scraping sound is... maybe i have a short in my ignition...
