Valve float
Simple question that didn't turn up anything useful when I searched:
At what RPM will the stock ('89-'92) roller valvetrain float?
I'm looking to extend my LO3's Hp peak RPM to 5200-5400 and shift at 6000. So how much am I looking at putting into the valvetrain?

I'd do springs to be sure, but I've always heard 6k for any similar to stock valvetrain. Out of curiousity how do you plan on making useful power at those rpm in an LO3?

I'm thinkin' 10066049 cam, aluminum heads, 3/4 length headers, 4th gen exhaust, single plane intake, the standard TBI mod stuff and a couple "trick mods" that aren't quite ready to be mentioned yet.
I realize that I'll be missing out on alot of torque going this way, but it's not a priority for this application (autocross).
So 6000 is a safe bet provided I replace the springs? That's all the further I intend to go.

i'd say so, but since you have all that apart go with new roller rocker arms . But once again just springs should cover you to 6k
