Oil pressure problem

When the car is first started in the morning, the pressure guage reads 30.
When I drive it around for anything past 20 minutes, the guage goes down more and more.
It hit close to 0 one day so I shut it off fast.
It hit 0 in stop and go traffic.I had to put it in nuetral and rev it lightly to get the oil pressure up a little.

The engine has only 1400 miles on it.

I have looked around to see what the possible cause is.It seems it might be the oil sender tube and screen.I will need to replace them asap.

This problem just started,so I caught it in time.

The oil is still brand new looking,no metal chips in it.

Is there another possible cause?

The bearings should be like new and not be a factor.

Any info is appreciated.

Could be a bad oil pump, or my friends camaro the down spout for the pump came off and when he would stop the oil would go to the front of the pan and he would lose oil pressure. Try that

Maybe its just the junky GM guage? Or maybe a leaky sender?

Most likely bad oil pressure sending unit. My camaro did the exact same thing when I bought it. Replaced the sender )after a few choice words) and amazingly, the car has really descent oil pressure all the time.

i'd screw a mechanical gauge into it and see what you have, then go from there.

If you were at 0, trust me, you would have probably seized the engine or something along those lines.

It happened to me too. Scared the crap out of me while I was in the ghetto of Atlanta. The sending units on these cars suck big time. I've gone through 3 myself.
