Can I wire a dual fan setup off a single fan connector??

I have a 91 Camaro RS with a single fan setup. Can I wire a dual fan setup off the single plug?? Is it safe or will 2 fans cause too much of a load??

It's marginal.

For a while, I had the dual fans set up off of one relay. It always worked fine, but I found after a long trip, the relay had gotten so hot it had melted together with the plug.

I would just get an aftermarket relay able to handle the load.

Why do you want to change over to the dual fans out of curiosity?

good point I guess I should!! But the reason I want to change it to a dual fan setup is for better cooling plus I'm in the process of putting together a TPI swap. I figure If I can wire things like the dual fan setup in now it will save me time later because I will already have it in place.

I see no draw backs to haveing a dual fan setup with a TBI engine anyways. I figure the engine will cool faster with 2 fans running resulting in shorter fan running times.

i wired my fans up together for better cooling. i have never had any problems with it and the cooling is far superior. don't know why it wasnt designed that way in the first place.

Remember that some single fans can actually out flow a dual fan and cost less.
