Throwing Codes and Surging
My car recently has been surging and when I'm at idle my car slows down in RPM's and then it shoots more gas into the TBI to keep it alive. So everytime I come to a stop my car dies. The two codes I threw were Code 12 ( No Distributor signal to Electronic Control Module) and Code 44 (Lean Exhaust Indicated). There is this little sensor that is loose and I don't know where it goes. Its on the left side of the TBI just hanging there I probably can take a pic of it tomorrow or so. I first thought it was a vaccum leak but now I'm not so sure. Any info would be appreciated.

Is this the left side as you are looking at it from the front? Also how many, if any, wires does it have going in to it? If it has 4 wires, it is the Idle Air Control. If it has 3 wires, it is the Throttle Position Sensor. Here are the two items I am referring to.

It has 2 wires A&B on the other side of the connector it said PED #14 whatever that means. But I can take a pic tomorrow if you are still unsure. As you look at it from the front of the car its on the left hand side (Passenger Side)

Would this happen to look more like it? If so, it mounts in the bottom of the air cleaner on the passenger side and would be a good reason you are getting the code 44.

Ya but on the other end theres like this little sensor looking thing.. it flexes back and forth and the end is round and it pretty much surrounds it. Would it go in that hole on the bottom of my air cleaner? Its open element by the way. I don't think that would fix the jerking and stalling that its doing.

That item in my last post is a sensor and fits in that hole on the bottom of your air cleaner. You are right about that item being not related to the code 44. I was reading two lines over from what I wanted to read. Check the wire harness for the O2 sensor and see if it is shorting out somewhere as a cause of the code 44. It can also becaused by contaminated (water) fuel, low fuel pressure, lean injectors, exhaust leaks, or a faulty MAP sensor.
