If the computer is bad will the car still run?
I know that my fuel pump is bad, and the computer may be bad also. If i replace the fuel pump, but the computer is bad will the car still run? Need to replace the fuel pump this week to get it running again.
It depends on what part of it is bad. Sometimes the car will run fairly good, ****ty as hell or not even start. It all depends...

A bad computer can do just about anything, it depends what's wrong with it. Sometimes the car won't run at all, and other times it'll run, but in limp-home mode. Or it could be intermittent, like mine was. The computer would spontaneously cut out the injector pulses, but then work fine a few minutes later. I'd say to put the new fuel pump in and see how the car runs after that.

Now the question is what is the cause of the intermittent signal? My suspicion would be a short/break in the wiring from the ecm to the fuel pump more than the ecm itself. Do the fuel pump first as they commonly go.
Generally, when I have had "electronic" things go; they just die.
Get an ecm from a wrecking yard (a lot cheaper there) and try it out if you have doubts about your ecm. You don't mention what engine you have, so I can't mention other potential donors. With TPI, you can snaffle the ecm out of a early SD MPFI V6 out of virtually any GM car (except W bodies).
Thus a Lumina, Corsica or Berretta (along with V6 Firebirds) are all potential donors. I know that the 7730 ecm from a Lumina is like $20-$25 where as a 7730 ecm from a SD TPI V8 F-body is more like a $100 from the wrecking yard. Same ecm, just more money.
