code 44, fouled plugs, blowing black smoke

just wondering what might be possible causes of this. if new spark plugs are put in it will run fine for a bit until those get fouled up with a black soot (cant really say its oil), and the engine will eventually die unless you keep the revs up. when reving it up it will blow a black smoke.

Even though your getting a lean signal to the ecm your plugs are telling you rich. Most likely cause is a misfire from the ignition. Could also be a bad o2. How log has the code been on?

Engine type would help steer you in the right direction. In any case, check fuel pressure. If MAP system, check for vacuum hoses disconnected.
