Topside port holes on Edelbrock intake
Topside port holes on Edelbrock intake
OK... I just installed an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. I haven't messed around with it for a while cuz I don't have access to a timing light, yet (dumb brother... ARG!). Anyhow... There's three ports on the top of the intake. The front too, connected to the water channel, I have figured out as vacuum lines. But my brother installed the rear one, right behind the carb, and he said it looked like it was just a straight through pipe with a 90* NPT fitting... Now this looks like it's going into a runner from the carb down to the heads... Could this be for EGR? Should I just plug it, since i'm not running the computer controlled carb anymore? Or is this for vacuum and my brother's wrong about the fitting that came off the old intake.

The front 2 are water passages, you do not want to hook up vac. to these.
These are for a heater hose, temp sending units, etc.
The rear one right behind the carb is for vac. I usually run my power brake booster line to this one. Its not EGR.
The 90* fitting he is talking about is probably the vac. fitting that feeds the vac. acc. (heater, etc.)
Are you talking ports on the intake or carb??

Really? Cuz the front two were connected to vacuum lines when I bought the car. They're TVSs according to the vacuum chart. they hooked into the carb, and the driver's side one hooked into the vacuum canister control valve.
Are you sure about the rear one being vacuum? Cuz if it is the way that my brother describes, wouldn't atomized fuel come out of it?

The front 2 are water. You can put the TVS switches in them and connect vac. to them. That is cool. The way I read it you were going to hook vac. directly into the intake
Sorry, misread.
The rear passage is intake manifold vac.
With the engine running vac. is drawn into the engine, nothing would come out of it.

I just looked at mine, all info above is correct.
Front 2 are water. You can put TVS switches in them to operate temp controlled vac. acc. as they were from the fact.
Rear is full manifold vac. You can run vac. to any acc. from this port that need full vac/ all the time. (no EGR) Stuff like power brake booster, heater controls, cruise control, etc.
Hope this helps.
