my alternator went about 3 weeks ago and based on what happened to me, i dont think you have a bad alternator. if the alternator was bad, you would definitely not be able to start the car after leaving it cold for a night. also, a bad alternator would choke off the engine after it had been running for a few minutes. i really dont have much experience with starters, but i would say it is either the starter or a drained battery
