fixing the charcoal canister

I want to put my charcoal canister back in, but I heard through the board that there was a way to move it out of the engine compartment, giving more room to work stuff around in. where do you put the canister when you relocate it? also, is it hard to do? does anybody have experience with this?

You can mount it under the vehicle, near the fuel tank, or inside a void in the inner fender. A flat EVAP works well for this, so you might be haunting the bone yards to find one you can fit up.

flat EVAP? explain, if you don't mind. I've though about mounting it inside the void where the rear storage compartment is. there's a void underneath the compartment, I thought maybe it would fit. is that gonna leak a gassy smell in the car or anything? or would i be better off stashing it around the headlights or in the bumper??

Many later GM vehicles (like trucks, Malibus, Cavaliers, vans, etc.) have flat rectangular EVAP canisters mounted under the vehicle and nearer the fuel tank. One of these might fit well in a fender void or around the front side of the radiator shell. I would avoid mounting it anywhere inside the passenger compartment, like the rear cargo well.

I think I'm just gonna stick with the big round one. how do I hook it up? is it just hook it to vac and let it run, or is there more to it? how do i route the vacuum? I looked at a diagram that was posted here, but I don't think it's for my car. any help would be great. thanks!!
