High Torque Started Identification
Can someone confirm if this is a high torque starter. I had read about a step but I wasn't sure if it was on the body (first picture) or the mounting to the block (second picture).

Looks like a regular starter. High torque starters usually have the motor where the solenoid usually goes. That allows them to use a gearset to increase torque.

Someone told me that these stock starters were "high" torque from the factory. The MINI's are all that are advertised as high torque.
I may just end up trying it and see if there is any problems. Anyone with experience. My motor is only like 9.8 CR. Will it be a problem?

With only 9.8 as compression youll be fine with a regular starter. Most of those high torque starters are designed for race motors with compression up around 13.
